Recreational facilities in Macon reopen

Macon-Bibb County is reopening outdoor facilities for recreational use.

People in Macon will be able to enjoy family-friendly activities in the upcoming weeks. The first to open will be the tennis and pickleball courts, followed by the Historic Bowden Golf Course and two other parks besides Lake Tobesofkee.

There will be rules to limit the number of people gathering in one place to 10 or less. This plan is predicted to last from May 4 to 31 and then it is hoped restrictions may be lifted from June.

Staff members are now stationed at passive parks to give any needed guidance when walking on trails. The parks listed are Central City Park, Filmore Thomas Park, and Rosa Parks Square. In addition to the reopening, faculty staff are scheduling health and wellness classes online.

The tennis courts are now open for both drop-ins and reservations and permit small group sessions. The Historic Bowden Golf Course is operating from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm in which visitors can rent a golf cart.

Sandy Beach Park is planning to open on the Memorial Day Weekend and costs $5 per vehicle. More facilities are expected to become accessible in the near future such as the bike trails at Arrowhead Park. Flyer printing can be used to spread the word about public facilities if placed on a town board or used with direct Mailing.
