Veterans Day 5K and weekend to take over Macon

Macon’s International Cherry Blossom Festival will hold the second annual Veterans Day 5K this November.

The race is part of a weekend dedicated to honoring local veterans. Proceeds will support the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Foundation, which assists Middle Georgia service members with housing, utility, and home repair needs.

Runners can register for the 5K in multiple categories. Standard entry costs $35, while veterans and students may participate for $25 with valid identification. Ghost runner registration is $30, and virtual participants may join for $40. Online registration closes Thursday, November 6 with same-day registration available onsite.

The event begins with packet pickup at 7:00 am, followed by the National Anthem at 8:25 am and a 5K start at 8:30 am. Awards will be presented around 9:30 am in categories including the top three overall finishers for men, women, veterans, and the top two in each age bracket from 10 and under to over 80. Additional recognition will honor the best patriotic costume. Bathrooms and parking will be available on site, and service animals are welcome.

The event will also feature the fourth annual Veterans Day Parade on November 9 and a golf tournament at River North Country Club on Monday, November 10.

Event planners may explore poster printing as a means to boost engagement and raise local awareness.

The Veterans Day 5K will take place Saturday, November 8 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course, 3450 Fulton Mill Rd, Macon.
