Cherry blossom festival planned for Macon

Next month, Macon will host its annual Cherry Blossom Festival celebrating the blooming of the Yoshino cherry blossom trees for any residents interested in a fun outdoor activity to kick off the spring season.

The Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission started the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival in 1982 to celebrate the beauty of the trees and to honor William A. Fickling Sr., the man who first propagated the Yoshino cherry trees in Macon. Over the years, the festival has grown from a three-day event to a ten-day affair that has earned multiple accolades, including Top 20 Events in the South and Top 50 Events in the US. The festival boasts multiple events for families to enjoy, such as the Fiesta Ball, the Cherry Blossom Parade, and the Cherry Blossom Market Place.

Attendees will even be able to purchase a Yoshino cherry blossom tree at the Carolyn Crayton Park in the Round Building every day of the festival. Carolyn Crayton Park will also host several carnival rides, live entertainment, and food vendors during the event. For multiday events such as this, organizers may utilize Print shops specializing in brochure printing to create informative handouts for visitors.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to run from Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 28. Ticket prices vary, with more information on the organizer’s website.
