Many runners here in South Daytona will be heading to the Shatter the Silence Foundation's 2nd Annual Silent No More 5k coming in early April.
The course will begin and end at Full Circle Nutrition and will be on accessible flat terrain suitable for families and walkers.
Hosted by Alyssa and Hailey Molihan, this community 5k run/walk will focus on healing, visibility, and advocacy for child abuse awareness and proceeds will go to Pregnancy Crisis Center of Daytona in order to support its therapy fund for those healing from child abuse. Last year's race donation was set up as a dedicated fund so money could be drawn for those especially in need of financial help.
Participants and spectators are asked to wear blue as this is the color of child abuse awareness.
Full Circle Nutrition will provide protein shakes before the race and medals will be awarded to top female and male finishers immediately after.
Groups who run together at multiple charity events like this one often get colorful matching T-Shirts printed with logos or graphic designs at local Print shops.
Parking will be available in adjacent business parking lots and street level along S Ridgewood Avenue.
This year's Child Abuse Awareness Walk/Run will take place Saturday, April 4th beginning at 7:00 am at Full Circle Nutrition, 1821 S Ridgewood Avenue.
