Major distribution hub comes to Port St. Lucie
The relocation of a national discount retail chain was announced in 2024, and the new facility is taking shape in Port St. Lucie, promising new jobs and savings for area shoppers.
The Costco distribution depot in West Palm Beach is changing location to southwest Port St. Lucie. Plans involve the construction of two facilities. The first construction phase will create a 595,000 square-foot site for cold storage, with construction costs totaling about $70M, followed by the dry storage construction phase. The center’s site near Interstate 95 allows easy access to transportation and has Amazon and FedEx distribution hubs nearby. The building site consists of nearly 200 acres. Once completed, total floor space for the facilities will top 1.87M square feet.
The company will bring significant economic impact to the area. Company leaders project the distribution center will employ 265 people, with an average annual wage of $55,350 plus benefits, bringing over $14.5M of economic impact to the area. Banner printing and promotional products help highlight grand openings.
Port St. Lucie mayor Shannon Martin recently noted that the expected average wage is well above area averages and expects it to have a powerful impact on the area:
Building completion is expected in late 2025.
