Late summer spooks at local park

It may seem early for Halloween shenanigans, but a Spooktactular Fun Day is coming to Port St. Lucie towards the end of September.

The event will have free admission, and organizers are looking for businesses and individuals that will provide goodies and vehicles for a trunk-or-treat.

Local small businesses are reserving spaces to sell their goods and services. Businesses that sell at events such as this often have updated Business Cards printed at local Print shops beforehand to be sure they have enough to distribute to passers-by.

A DJ will be onsite with music to enhance the cheerful atmosphere. After buying $5 wristbands, kids can enjoy bounce houses (including one with a slide), test their skills on the obstacle course, and try their luck at inflatable games. The Milky Waves Ice Cream Truck will be onsite selling frozen treats and hotdog combos.

Chinese raffle tickets are being sold online, costing $20 for 20. Tickets may also be purchased under the pavilion at the event, where they are available in lots of three for $5 or seven for $10, as well as the 20 for $20 package. In this type of raffle, guests put tickets in a receptacle for the item they wish to win and someone pulls out the winning ticket at random. Proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Saint Lucie County.

Spooktacular Fun Day has been scheduled for Saturday, September 23 from noon to 4:00 pm at Girl Scout Friendship Park, 315 NW Heather Street.
