Hialeah, Florida is known as "The City of Progress", boasting of its many free or low-cost services, industrial growth and welcoming of Cuban-American immigrants. However, a new study suggests that residents may want to be careful about how much progress they expect.
According to personal finance research website WalletHub, the city ranks among the most difficult in which to keep New Year's resolutions.
WalletHub's survey finds Hialeah as the ninth lowest-ranked city when it comes to completing 2017 resolutions, among a field of 182. By contrast, Seattle and San Francisco had the highest chance of successful resolutions.
The study incorporated 52 metrics evaluating how easy it was to keep resolutions involving health, finance, work, relationships, and bad habits. Analysts then used this data to estimate how likely someone in a given city was to complete their resolutions, and which criteria might be holding them back from sticking to their 2018 goals.
For Hialeah residents, this simply means that they might have to work a little harder to make their resolutions come true. Data estimates of the failure rate of New Year's resolutions nationwide range from 42% to 92%. Willpower is the most essential trait for fulfilling a resolution, but using tools like Calendars and custom printing services to track progress and hold oneself accountable can also be a big help.
