Dania After Dark celebrates local arts

As the summer days gradually begin to shorten, one South Florida town is looking to take advantage of the longer nights.

Dania After Dark, a monthly festival that kicked off earlier this summer, aims to offer the town of Dania Beach's local artists and artisans a place to showcase their work while giving visitors a "visual and hands-on experience." While being firmly rooted in its location, Dania After Dark may also attract vendors and visitors from the greater Miami area, including other suburbs like Hialeah.

Each month's festival features an artisan marketplace, art exhibitions and showcases, antique and vintage dealers, and "do it yourself" activities. Past examples of such activities include live painting and a tutorial on how to make crafts out of shaving cream. Visitors can enjoy live music and refreshment from an assortment of food trucks. Dania After Dark's advertising image features rich purples and the image of a tent city under the palm trees. This type of idyllic picture is often used by local events used for poster or flyer printing.

The next edition of Dania After Dark will take place this Saturday, August 11 on Dania Beach Boulevard. Tunes will be provided by Whipping Post and Catabella Express. The festival looks to continue on the second Saturday of each month, with the goal of incorporating local storefronts into the proceedings.
