GOGO MOAD is a mobile education program that brings the museum to children. This time, GOGO MOAD is coming to the Art Gallery located on the Hialeah Campus of Miami-Dade College. There, children will enjoy sharing the experience of exploring ideas together. The event includes making an art project during an artist-led session, and fun activities for the entire family.

At the outing, children will have the chance to attend a three-hour workshop called “Neighborhood Photography.” The inspiration for the session is the current exhibition at the gallery, “Remaking Miami: Josefina Tarafa’s Photography of the 1970s.” Tarafa’s photos show the way Miami has transformed thanks to the influence of the growing Cuban community. Students will use smart phone cameras and Polaroids to take photos of the city. Artist and teacher Lori Ofir will be the instructor.

Lori Ofir earned her BFA at the University of Florence, and has exhibited both at home and abroad, and enjoyed residencies in Miami, New York, and Colorado. At events like this, organizers will often use flyer printing to create instruction sheets.

GOGO MOAD is scheduled for February 10, with the photography session running 11.00am until 2.00pm. The event is open to children aged five and older, as well as their families. Although the event is open to the public at no charge, people are asked to register in advance to reserve a spot.
