Milford issued polar plunge challenge

The air may be icy cold, but that will not be enough to stop some brave bathers from hitting the water near the town of Milford as they ring in 2023.

People who take part in Plunge for Parks will be braving the chilly waters off Long Island Sound in support of the area's green spaces. The function will be organized by Elm City Parks Conservancy, and there will be plenty of fun for the whole family.

Those who sign up for the frigid dip will have access to warmed changing rooms, and can choose whether they want to run in and back out to the ocean as fast as they can, or show off by doing a few victory laps for the crowd. They will receive a complimentary hot brunch to help them get warmed up, and the spectators will also be invited to dig in. Everyone on hand can try out the games and other activities. All tickets are $35, not including applicable fees and taxes.

T-Shirts, beach towels, and other Corporate Gifts printed with a function’s Logo Design can be prepared by an area printer in preparation for events like polar plunges that are growing in popularity.

Plunge for parks will be kicking off 2023 with a frosty dip on Monday, January 23. The bathers will hit the water at Lighthouse Point Park in East Haven.
