The Lunar New Year will be the focus of a celebration coming up in the Milford area, and it will be the largest event planned for Connecticut for 2025 that will mark the Chinese Year of the Snake.
This family-friendly gathering will take place in downtown New Haven, and is being organized by the Yale-China Association. This will be the 14th year for what is one of the area's top cultural events.
The festivities will kick off with a parade that winds its way along the section of Whitney Avenue between Trumbull and Grove Streets. It will feature traditional Chinese dance and also lion dancers. Community leaders will address the crowd, and martial arts demonstrations will take place. A variety of free activities for the public will wrap up the event.
Many parades see the walkers and marchers carrying signage prepared by banner printing companies. These can include the names of the entries as well as details about the companies and groups that sponsor an event.
The New Haven 2025 Lunarfest will be marking the Year of the Snake next Saturday, February 1. The festivities will run from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm, and its website provides both more information and a list of locations for all the fun. The contact phone number for the celebration is 203-432-0884.
