Whether they are prescription or over the counter, the safe disposal of medications that are no longer needed can protect both people and the environment, and the Greeley Police have organized a Drug Take Back Day that will make doing so quick and easy.
The activity will be taking place at three different locations in the community, and most medicines will be accepted. The public is invited to check their cabinets, drawers and cupboards, and bring in any drugs that are expired or they no longer need.
The planners of the event noted that, by disposing of unwanted medications safely, it will help to prevent accidental poisonings. At the same time, it will keep them out of the local water system and the rest of the environment. They went on to say that, for safety reasons, needles, pressurized canisters, oxygen tanks, chemotherapy drugs, radioactive substances, and mercury thermometers will not be accepted.
The drop off stations will be set up at 2875 W. 10th Street, 2045 10 Ave, and 3247 23rd Avenue in Evans. The Evans site will also be offering shredding services for documents and other paperwork. A printing services company will be able to provide items that can be mailed to all local households to make them aware of when and where an event like this will be held.
Drug Take Back Day will taking place in Greeley on April 28. Additional details can be found on the community’s website.
