Volunteers needed to help keep Torrance beach healthy

An upcoming event will give Torrance residents an opportunity to take to the beach in an effort to keep it clean and looking great.

The cleanup, which has been organized by Heal the Bay, is open to individuals and groups alike. All those who wish to participate need to bring is a pail and pair of sturdy gloves so they can pick up litter and other debris, as well as a snack and full reusable water bottle. The event will take place rain or shine, so the organizers suggest that people come dressed in layers so they will be comfortable whatever the temperature.

People of any age are welcome, but each will need to sign a waiver, with those who are 18 or younger having theirs signed by their parent or guardian. Anyone under 12 will need to have an adult come along with them. Flyer printing can be used to create materials that promote a community-based event such as this to those who may be interested in lending a hand.

All those who are interested in signing up to participate in the Nothin’ but Sand Beach Clean Up, which will be held on Torrance County Beach on January 21, can do so through its Eventbrite page. It also includes Heal the Bay’s contact details for those who wish to register a group of 20 or more.
