Unusual ice-cream store to open in Torrance

Cauldron Ice Cream, an ice-cream shop based in Orange County, will be opening a new store in the Old Town area of Torrance later this summer. The shop is known for its Puffle Cone and the use of liquid nitrogen to create handmade ice-cream.

This shop is owned by Paul Tran, who also hopes to open additional locations in downtown Los Angeles, Rowland Heights, or Huntington Beach. There are other Cauldron Ice Cream shops in the counties of Los Angeles, Santa Clara, and San Diego, as well as in Toronto, Canada and Dallas, Texas.

Cauldron Ice Cream is unique not only from the standpoint of the technology used to create its ice-cream, but in that each flavor is made to order for each guest, one scoop at a time, resulting in ice-cream that is fresh with a highly creamy texture. Its special flavors include Vietnamese Coffee, Milk and Cereal, American Pie, and Earl Grey Lavender. Servings are offered in a cup or can be shaped like a rose in the store’s signature Puffle Cones.

The chain of Cauldron Ice Cream shops started in 2015 with its first location in Santa Ana, California. Its Puffle Cone, which is an egg-based puffed waffle cone, became its signature feature after being highlighted extensively in the media.
