Torrance periodontist offers new treatment

Dr. Arta Farahmand, a periodontist in Torrance, recently announced a new drive to raise awareness for a new minimally invasive treatment for gum disease that utilizes modern dental lasers.

A modern laser is used to gently and effectively remove diseased tissue and bacteria in the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP). Dr. Farahmand is trained and certified to offer this treatment for those who may have bleeding or receding gums, persistent bad breath, and other Forms of gum disease.

LANAP is different from traditional treatments of gum disease as no scalpels and sutures are needed and there is minimal bleeding. Only one appointment is required for the treatment and recovery time is minimal. Another benefit tis that the treatment enables new bone to form to surround teeth if there has been any bone loss due to the disease.

Brochure printing can be used so that patients suffering from this disease have more information about such treatments and doctors in their local areas who are able to provide them.

Dr. Farahmand pointed out that unchecked gum disease can be harmful to a patient. Gum disease is and infection and it spread throughout the body, including the kidneys, lungs, and heart. There is also a linkage between gum disease and cancer as the bacteria from gum disease can get into other cells and turn them cancerous.
