The DoubleTree by Hilton was recently the site for this year’s State of the City Luncheon, which was hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event saw many of the people that help to make the city tick come together to network and have a good time while recognizing the contributions some of them have made over the past year. Mention was also made of the positive environment it provides for the businesses that have set up shop there. The 2015 Distinguished Citizen of the Year award was presented by Mayor Patrick Furey to De De Hicks, who is the President of the South Bay Volunteer Center and CEO.
The mayor remarked that Hicks has worked hard to make her community a better place for many years, and he was pleased to be able to recognize all she has done.
He further went on to say that the community has been showing great deal of growth this past year, and licenses have been given to 2,000 businesses, such as the ones who will be a part of the newly revamped Del Amo Fashion Center, which will have over 60 additional stores including Nordstrom.
