Torrance becomes home to top-notch cancer treatment facility

Residents of the South Bay area in Torrance now benefit from access to top-of-the-range cancer care with the opening of the City of Hope | South Bay cancer center at the end of last month.

As part of a three-story building owned by Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers, City of Hope occupies 25,000 square feet, providing leading care and innovative clinical trials. The facility has 20 areas for patients undergoing chemotherapy, along with three procedure rooms. It also has a ‘Positive Image Center’ where patients benefit from access to cosmetologists to learn about minimizing the side effects of their care.

President of strategy and business ventures at City of Hope, Harlan Levine, M.D., commented that having the facility within the Advanced Care Center of Providence will enable patients to receive the highest standard of care and have access to clinical trials to fight the toughest types of cancer.

City of Hope currently offers its cancer treatments at its main camps in Duarte, and has recently been opening more centers throughout Southern California. U.S. News and World Report considers to the hospital to one of the best in the nation for cancer treatment.
