New stores to open in Torrance

Hobby Lobby is planning to open a store in Torrance in a former location of Toys ‘R’ Us late next month.

The space is 48,000 square feet in size and is next to a Walmart at the intersection of Sepulveda and Hawthorne Boulevards across from the Del Amo Fashion Center. It is expected that 35 to 50 new jobs will come to the area as a result of the new store. Flyer printing can be used to keep the community informed of such new stores and any weekly specials which they may have.

Hobby Lobby, which sells arts and crafts supplies, has expanded steadily in recent years and now has stores in 46 states. It is planning to open 65 new stores this year which will create as many as 3,000 jobs in the process.

The former location of Babies ‘R’ Us a few blocks to the north will become home to a gym for rock climbing. This space is 38,000 square feet in size and is in the Torrance Promenade Shopping Center at the northeast corner of Del Amo and Hawthorne boulevards. The gym is a new trend that brings experiences and activities to an area in what was once traditional retail spaces. Portions of the roof will have to be raised close to 30 feet tom accommodate the rock climbing walls.

Touchstone Climbing will be running the location in Torrance. It operates similar facilities throughout the state.
