The FLUOROspeed X1 developed by Shimadzu Medical Systems USA (SMS) of Torrance has received FDA 510(k) clearance and is now available for purchase in the United States.

This is a new radiographic/fluoroscopic (RF) table system that features a high-quality imaging and many other capabilities to improve operator efficiencies and workflow that will contribute to lower costs in healthcare. When new products such as this one are announced, brochure printing can be used to provide more detailed information about their features and operation.

It is the newest product in the FLUOROspeed series. Its static weight is 665 pounds and its all-motion weight is 500 pounds which facilitates the performance of routine and bariatric daily radiographic and fluoroscopic exams.

Director of RF and Radiographic modalities for SMS, Charles Cassudakis, said that the X1 is outstanding as an RF system as it offers a wide range of RF applications, including abdomen, chest, extremities, and modified swallows, while still being a cost-effective solution. Its arrangement of site‐specific programmable and image recording functions contributes to its improving workflow in a room.

Product Director for SMS, Jim Mekker, added that years of researching the marketplace in the United States and feedback collected from users contributed to the design and building of the X1. This has enabled the X1 to be highly effective and user-friendly offering features which belong in every x-ray department.
