Ian Dailey has been appointed as the new Finance Director of the city of Torrance and joins its Executive Staff.
Business card printing is often called upon when such new roles are announced.
Dailey has served as the Deputy City Manager of Torrance since December 2023. In this position he advanced a dashboard for the Capital Improvement Plan, supported advocacy efforts at both the state and federal levels, advanced the strategic plan initiatives of the city, and represented the city in negotiations.
Prior to this he was promoted to Assistant Finance Director in 2021. In this role, he supervised the Dailey operations of the finance department which included accounts payable, accounting, budgeting, payroll, procurement, and business license. He also led implementations of payroll and budget systems and efforts to obtain the first Meritorious Operating Budget Award of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and Distinguished Budget Presentation Award of the Government Finance Officers Association for the city. He has been involved in strategics to rebuild the reserves of the city to levels which the city has not experienced in over 10 years.
Before Dailey joined the finance department of Torrance, he was the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Finance at the Lexington Public School District in Lexington, Massachusetts. He was responsible for human resources as well as financial endeavors in addition to transportation and the school lunch program.
