The banner printing is complete, the Flyers are out, and the Signs are up announcing a Froyo treat for Torrance.
Jas Ghotra has put together what he hopes is a winning combination: frozen yogurt, upbeat music, and the beach. The young entrepreneur has just opened CUPS Frozen Yogurt, to the delight of Torrance’s mayor and the local Chamber of Commerce.
Ghotra’s shop features retro beach-bunny décor, electric dance music, and 24 flavors of frozen yogurt. This “serve yourself” operation gives customers the opportunity to try any flavor combinations they like, as well as select finishing touches from a toppings buffet that features 50 different items. When a frozen concoction is complete, final price is based on weight.
A dessert store was not what Ghotra dreamed he would be doing with a degree in mechanical engineering but, after 18 months of searching for a job, his father agreed to help him open his own business. He got the idea to open a frozen yogurt, or froyo, store after researching various food franchise operations. The product certainly suits Ghotra, who admits he is a big fan of the dessert.
Ghotra, his father, and his brother have plans to bring CUPS to dozens of other locations across the South Bay area. For now, though, the focus of the family is on making the Torrance shop a sweet success. Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Flyers
