Cultural events to come to Torrance this summer

Torrance Summer Nights will be celebrating its inaugural festival season this summer.

Poster printing is often used to promote such events throughout a city.

Summer Nights will feature an array of programming with movies, music, and other events that will include award-winning bands such as the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, The Big Butter Jazz Band, and Manuel the Band. All events will take place at the Wilson Park Amphitheatre.

A special event of the season will be the TAM HouseParty! This event is for those over the age of 21 and will be at the Torrance Art Museum. Among those featured will be live DJs with music from the 1960s and 1980s, spanning such genres as funk, soul, and Motown. There will be a special beer cocktail designed by Chef Tadashi Masumoto. This will take place on Sunday, July 9.

Live theater will include performances of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and “Hamlet.” The comedy feature of the Torrance Theatre Company, “HOT TIP!,” will also be performed. “HOT TIP!” will be on Sunday, August 6 while the two Shakespeare plays will be on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

There will also be three movies suitable for the entire family to enjoy. “Sing 2” will be at Lago Seco Park on Saturday, June 24, “The Sandlot” will be at Victor Park on Saturday, July 22, and “Super Mario Brothers” will be at Wilson Park on Saturday, August 19.
