Womens March hopes to make a change

Hundreds of women took to the streets in Santa Ana in solidarity on Saturday for the fourth annual Women’s March.

This year’s turnout was not as high as in previous years, however the organizers were not fazed by the lower numbers. The organizers feel that the OC Women’s March, which brings together people from several OC counties such as Los Angeles and Riverside, is just one part of an international event that will be held at more than 250 gathering points across the world. This one event was just the start of what will be several events that will shape the course of 2020’s election season.

Keynote speaker at the OC Women’s March was Senator Katie Porter. When speaking in front of the crowd, she said:

“When we have the courage to organize, to speak up, and to fight back, we have the power to make real change to move our country forward.”

Porter also spoke about how previous rallies such as this one had a positive effect on voter turnout in 2018. Porter was speaking in front of a crowd of about 12,000 people. The 2017 version of this event was held two days after President Donald Trump’s inauguration and more than four million people showed up. People often visit Print shops before attending such events.

Trump’s upcoming impeachment trial was a topic of conversation, however participants took the opportunity to voice their concerns on a number of other topics such as climate change, equal pay, and war.
