Santa Ana high school leads the way with free ACT testing

Santa Ana’s Segerstrom High School has become the first Orange County school to provide free ACT testing to all its juniors and seniors who wish to take it.

The test was administered during the regular school day on September 29, which means students did not have to miss any practices or take time off from an after school job. According to Duncan McCulloch, Segerstrom’s principal, a mere 27% of the 2015 graduating class took the test. He hopes that free testing provided at school will increase those numbers to 100%.

By taking the test first in their junior year students, can get a handle on where they need to concentrate their efforts for the test in their senior year. Additionally, it gives the student and his or her family a way to gauge which schools the student can realistically hope will accept them.

Families are often interested in ACT test prep help, and tutoring services sometimes utilize Direct Mail printing to reach out to families of high school juniors and seniors.

In addition to not having to pay for the test and the convenience of taking it during school hours, there is also a real possibility this arrangement might result in better ACT scores. The students may feel more relaxed in the familiar environment and be more likely to work to their full potential.
