Santa Ana cleans up for Arbor Day

The Santa Ana Public Works Agency is sponsoring a huge cleanup effort this Arbor Day.

The Graffiti Paint Out and Arbor Day event will bring together residents of all stripes in order to make the city a greener and more beautiful place.

Naturally, planting trees will be a central theme of the morning long activity. Dozens of trees are being provided by the city, and instructions will be provided about where the volunteers should plant them. Several prime locations along Madison Park have been selected so that attendees can feel the reward of leaving a more beautiful park behind them after they are finished.

The Graffiti Paint Out half of the event aims to fix many of the walls and structures that inhabit the park by removing some unwelcome tagging. Volunteers will get either black paint to cover up the graffiti, or in some cases cleaning product to remove the paint.

In addition to these efforts, the Flyers also advertise the start of the city’s ‘MySantaAna’ mobile app. The app is supposed to provide users with a number of locations and tasks that allow them to help clean up the city.

The event will take place on May 21 from 8:00 am to noon at Madison Park, located at 1528 S. Standard Ave. The cost is free, but pre-registration is preferred so that the public works department can know how many trees and supplies to bring.
