Andrew Do was elected to the post following a unanimous vote from the board. He will now lead the organization in charge of funding, planning, and completing transportation infrastructure-related projects and coordinating public transit all over Orange County. Do will be replacing Steve Jones who is no longer chairman but he still has a seat on the board.
When accepting the position, Do said:
“It is an honor to be selected by my colleagues to lead OCTA’s Board of Directors this year. I look forward to working with them and the public to provide a balanced, sustainable, and innovative transportation system to keep Orange County moving.”
Do, who is no doubt now updating his Business Cards to reflect his new role, has considerable history working with Orange County. In 2015, he was a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, where he represented people from Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and Fountain Valley. He also served on the OCTA's board at that time, representing the organization on Metrolink's Board of Directors.
Vietnamese-born Do and his family moved to the United States when he was young, and he was raised in Garden Grove. His first degree comes from the University of California. After completing his undergraduate program, he attended Hastings College before teaching at Cal State University as a professor.
