San Leandro event takes crowd to bygone era

An event booked for mid-August in a San Leandro venue is bringing its audience a chance to experience a blast from the past.

Kenny Metcalf As Elton is a show where Metcalf takes to the stage and performs some of the biggest hits from Sir Elton John. He doesn’t just sing and play the piano though, he fully embraces the entirety of the performance style that John had during his biggest years. The flashy outfits, the impactful energy, Metcalf brings it all. Along with his band, he works to give modern audiences a chance to feel and see what an Elton John show was like back in the day.

Amongst the hits in Elton John’s discography are songs such as “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going To Be A Long, Long Time),” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” (with Kiki Dee), “I’m Still Standing,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Bennie And The Jets,” and “Philadelphia Freedom.”

Tickets for the San Leandro concert are general admission. Sold via Ticketmaster, the cost per ticket is $38.70 including fees at the time of writing. The price will go up to $40 plus additional fees.

The venue is the Historic BAL Theatre. Many performers will have their Logo Design printed onto items to sell to the audience. In some cases, the venue itself will also have its own merchandise. The concert will start at 8:00pm on August 15th.
