San Leandro clubhouse to hold community festival

The San Leandro Boys & Girls Clubs will organize a family-friendly event in September to welcome students back to school.

Rock the Block is a community program where families can learn about the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro and the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP). There will be resource booths from the local school district at the event that people can visit to hear about job openings and free programs for students. Attendees will also get to learn about ELOP’s enrichment partners and discover how they can get involved as volunteers.

There will be numerous activities for people to enjoy during the Rock the Block party. Guests can work with Professional Women Builders to construct a birdhouse, and kids may visit the Alameda County Fire Department and climb on its fire engine. Attendees will get to check out the venue’s exercise facilities, Teen Tech Center, and the Club Cafe. Other activities at the event include climbing rock walls, petting llamas, free face paintings, and eye checkups.

The back-to-school celebration will be held on Saturday, September 6th from noon to 5:00 pm. This event is free for the community to enjoy, though people can register in advance. The club’s parking lot will be closed for the event. Local organizations that coordinate community celebrations like this may use poster printing to draw more attention to their parties.
