Festival in San Leandro is all about cherries

San Leandro community will be coming together to celebrate the 110-year traditional San Leandro Cherry Festival in early June.

The parade will step off at 10:00 am and be divided into marching bands, youth and youth related non-profits, non-profit organizations and community, and animals. Other divisions will be civic and government agencies, floats, and political officials.

Staging will be in the Parrot Street BART South Parking Lot beginning at 8:00 am. The parade will disband around 11:00 am in the San Leandro Main Library parking lot at 300 Estudillo Avenue.

Awards will be presented in these categories: San Leandro Spirit, Creativity, Music, Cherry Parade, Youthful Spirit, School, Judge's Choice, Best Float, Business, and Association/Organization.

Downtown Leandro will be abuzz with food, artisans booths, activities, and community organizations.

The Main Stage will feature Eric Rangel & Orquesta Ameria at noon, continue with Big Blu Soul Revue from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm and end with Eddie 9V from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

Cherry Pie contest winners will be in Best of Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for Traditional Pie, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Non-traditional and 1st place in the Youth Pie category.

Winners in contests like this often have pictures of themselves and their winning entries taken to local Print shops to have duplicates made.

The Leandro Cherry Festival 2024 will be Sunday, June 1st from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
