Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening is a celebration of a band that is among the most influential in the history of rock. Bonham is uniquely qualified to lead the effort, as he is the son of John Bonham, who was the drummer for the iconic group from 1968 until 1980. Rolling Stone magazine called him the “greatest drummer of all time.”
Jason created the tribute band in 2010 in Hamilton, Ontario after playing with Led Zeppelin in 1988, 1990, and 2007. After his 2007 appearance with the group, he expressed interest in recording and touring with Led Zeppelin, but the idea was rebuffed by lead singer Robert Plant.
Jason then founded Led Zeppelin Evening with himself as the drummer and backing vocalist. Other original members were Stephen LeBlanc (steel guitar/keyboards), Michael Devin (bass), James Dylan (vocals), and guitarist Tony Catania. Bonham and Dylan are still with the group, accompanied now by Dorian Heartsong (mandolin, bass), Alex Howard (guitar/keyboards), and lead guitarist Jimmy Sakurai. A review says:
“Took me right back to 1978 . . . Bomham [sic] was hotter than the Houston heat!”
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Thursday, May 21. Concerts such as this can benefit if organizers use poster printing to create advertising for them.
