Group with unique viewpoints to play in San Diego

A group whose members distinct identities as musicians have blended their approaches into something unique is coming to San Diego.

SunSquabi comprises Scotty Zwang on drums, Josh Fairman on synth and bass, and Kevin Donohue on keys, guitar, and production. They believe that music can recharge everyone spiritually, figuratively, and literally. They also believe music can inspire people to face the challenges of daily life, both individually and internationally.

This ambitious agenda is expressed in the group’s live electronica sound. Their music has been streamed millions of times, and they have performed live in such iconic venues as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Their growth as artists continued with the release of the EPs, “Cloudburst” and “Grind,” both dropped in 2024. Previous releases that found appreciative fans are 2016’s “Odyssey,” the “Deluxe EP,” released in 2017, and 2019’s “Instinct.” Kevin Donohue said that the recent past has shown how resilient people are, and the group’s music reflects that ability to bounce back. He added:

“These EPs are a testament to staying grounded, connected, and hopeful.”

Much of their latest music has come from the members’ evolving chemistry mixed with the high energy of performing live and the energy of long-lasting jam sessions. The lockdown brought them even closer.

Critics agree, noting:

“SunSquabi never fails to bring the funk.”

SunSquabi will be at San Diego’s Music Box on December 19. One way organizers can publicize events like this is to use poster printing to create advertisements for them.
