School hosts groovy race

Athletes in and around Northridge can register for a race for a special occasion.

The ‘Super Groovy 5K’ run or walk celebrates the 50th anniversary of St. Euphrasia School. The theme is a tribute to the 1960s, which is the decade when the school first opened.

The professionally timed race will take participants on a flat course through Woodley Park and near Lake Balboa. At the end, participants will get to run through a puff of color. The course is both stroller and wheelchair friendly. A postcard printing service is a great way to help inform the public about events like this one.

The 5K is for those who will be at least eight years old on race day. The 1K is for children who are seven years of age or younger. Awards will be given to the top three runners in each age group.

Registration costs $40 for adults and $35 for students. It includes a T-shirt, a goodie bag, and sunglasses. The kids’ 1K costs $25. Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person at the St. Euphrasia School, located on 17637 Mayerling Street in Granada Hills.

Race day registration starts on April 25 at 7:00am. The 5K race kicks off at 8:15am, while the kids’ 1K starts at 9:30am. Awards will be given out at 10:30am.
