Northridge goes Greek for festival

Valley locals can attend a large cultural event.

The Valley Greek festival will feature live Greek music throughout the day. There will also be various dancing groups. Attendees can check out the Greek market where there will be authentic food, cookbooks, and aprons for sale, along with cooking demonstrations.

Those who bring in a can of food will be given $1 off of a food item or nonalcoholic beverage. Raffle tickets can be purchased and prizes will be distributed throughout the weekend. The grand prize is a trip for two to Greece. Tickets are a donation of $2 each, or 12 tickets can be bought for $20.

A wide variety of Greek food will be available. Attendees can also enjoy a special roast leg of lamb dinner with peas and artichokes, roasted potatoes, and other Greek sides. This dinner will be served, in limited quantities, each night of the festival at 6:00 pm in the ballroom.

Admission is $3 and parking is free. Kids aged 10 and under, as well as seniors 65 and over, can get in free. With proper identification, military, police, and firefighters are also free. Poster printing has likely been used as a method to publicize this event.

The festival will take place from May 23 until May 25 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, located on 9501 Balboa Boulevard.
