Locals in and around Northridge can make the short trek to Hansen Dam for several racing events next month.
First, the Hansen Dam Superhero 5K and 10K invites participants to put on their favorite superhero costume and run around the aquatic center and trail system. The races will be chip timed. Little ones can also take part in a free 1K tot trot.
More seasoned athletes may want to try out The Hansen Dam Triathlon, which consists of a 500-yard open water swim, an 11-mile road bike ride with plenty of hills, and a three-mile trail run through the Hansen Dam Park. There is also an Olympic Triathlon that consists of a 1,500-meter swim, a 22-mile bike ride, and a 10K trail run.

Registration costs $30 for the Superhero 5K and $40 for the 10K. Depending on the time of registration and the course, registration for the triathlon costs between $85 and $150.
The Superhero 5K and 10K will take place on August 15, with the 5K beginning at 8:30 am. Awards will be passed out at 10:00 am and the tot trot will start at 10:15 am. The triathlon’s first wave will kick off on August 16 at 6:30 am.
