Summer reading program to end with festivities
The Summer Reading Celebration is taking place next month in Placentia, and is a presentation of the Placentia Library Friends Foundation.
The Placentia Public Library is currently holding an eight-week long Summer Reading Program for people from pre-school up to adult. For the youngest (0 -5) they must have a minimum of 30 books read to them, while independent readers must read for at least 200 minutes, teens receive a raffle ticket for every three books read. All are eligible for a grand prize. For adults, the first 100 who registered received a Starbucks gift card and two people will win the grand prize of a $250 Target gift card.
The celebration will take place on the last day of the program and will feature live entertainment, pony and train rides, bounce houses, and a photo booth. There will also be food, games, a story time, and face painting.
The event and the program are trying to encourage residents of Placentia to read more. To spread word, organizers may distribute flyers around the community.
The Summer Reading Celebration will be held at the Placentia Civic Center Plaza on August 20 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Admission is free. For more information about this event or the Summer Reading Program, contact Diane Warner of the Placentia Public Library at 714-528-0196.
