Racers to run off their donuts
The 5th Annual Great Donut Run will take place near Placentia at Irvine College, in an event still going ahead at the time of writing.
Thousands of donuts will be on hand to reward the dedicated participants. Donut medals will be awarded at the finish for those coming in designated placements.
Proceeds from the race will benefit Urban Health Alliance, a race partner. Other benefits from proceeds help with testing for asbestos and lead as well as different types of hazardous materials throughout the community.
The one-mile race begins at 7:30 am and is a flat course, out and back. The 5K race begins at 8:00 am and has a donut hole zone set up at the half way mark for those ready to stop for a quick snack and sugar boost before continuing on to the last stretch. An expo takes place at the end of the race. Exhibitors can work with local print shops in preparing needed supplies such as banner printing.
Donut treats are provided along the race course and there is no time limit in place allowing for the enjoyment of the sugary sweets. A Kids Donut Dash for the young participants will start at 9:15 am and includes a short distance for various age groups. They will have the opportunity to earn their own race trinkets while enjoying the tasty treats.
The Great Donut Run takes place on May 17. Register online and stay tuned to the event listing for updates on its status.
