Placentia recycling event to benefit local schools

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) will hold a recycling event in November to raise funds for its local school grants.

The E-Waste Recycling Event is a program where people can safely get rid of their unwanted old electronics while supporting their local school district. During the event, attendees can get rid of items such as laptop batteries, small appliances, and lawnmowers. The program has four categories of electronic waste that have service charges ranging from $10 to $40 depending on the size of the electronics being thrown away. Household batteries and lightbulbs will not be accepted at the event.

The PYLUSD is a district in Orange County that serves several cities, including Brea, Fullerton, and Anaheim. Many of the schools within the PYLUSD have won awards, such as being named National Blue Ribbon Schools and California Schools to Watch. The district was initially formed in 1989 after the Yorba Linda School District merged with the Placentia Unified School District. The organization includes schools like Rio Vista Elementary School and Golden Elementary School.

The electronic waste recycling activity will take place on Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Registration is not required to participate in the PYLUSD’s event. School districts that organize community programs such as this may use banner printing to raise local awareness for their fundraising activities.
