Placentia brings tamales into the holidays

The Placentia Tamale Festival is about to move away from the traditional turkey and ham focus and spice up the holiday season.

This was the first tamale festival in Orange County and has now expanded to several cities across the state. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend, and volunteers from the community coordinate and manage the event.

The 25th Annual Placentia Tamale hosts food including tamales from local Mexican restaurants to eat there or take some home. There will also be exhibit and craft booths throughout the venue. Routinely, printing services provide materials such as poster printing for the vendors. Posters can be mounted on walls or placed on easels to promote goods, services and activities. Beer and wine will also be available for adult guests.

Santa Claus will be visiting the family-friendly event to the delight of the local children, with picture opportunities making the event memorable. The two-time Grammy winning Mariachi Divas will provide lively music and entertainment again this year. They have supported the tamale festival in years past and remain popular in the community.

The festival will take place on December 11 in Old Town Placentia from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Admission is free. Shuttle service is offered, but riders should be sure to note the schedule online for pick-up times. Visit the event website or Facebook page for more information.
