Locals to show their patriotic side

Individuals in and around Placentia can take part in the 2015 Anaheim Hills Firecracker 5K and 10K. The event offers several different races, including a children’s fun run, and a range of patriotic activities.

After the race, participants can enjoy a pancake breakfast, a dog show, and a parade. Peralta Park will host a food festival. At night, attendees can watch fireworks light up the sky.

For a chance to win a prize, individuals can dress up in their favorite patriotic costume. In addition, awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category.

Packet pickup will take place on July 2 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and July 3 from noon until 5:00 pm at Slater’s 50/50, located on 6362 East Santa Ana Canyon Road.

Registration is $35 for the timed 5K and $30 for the untimed version. The 10K costs $40 and the kids’ dash is $20. Beginning on July 2, registration for the 5K and 10K goes up $5. Any active military personnel can run free of charge.

The 5K and 10K races kick off on July 4 at 7:00 am and the kids’ dash begins at 9:00 am. No doubt a flyer printing company was asked to create bright handouts to promote the event.

The starting line for the 5K and 10K is on Santa Ana Canyon Road, near Canyon High School’s athletic field.
