For the past ten years, Los Angeles’s Pershing Square has hosted a free summer concert series, and for this year’s anniversary series, they are ready to hit listeners with their best shot.
The series kicked off on July 14 with performances from ‘80s pop group The Bangles and local indie stars Best Coast, and will run until August 18. The all-star line-up includes both regional favorites and worldwide stars from decades past such as Pat Benatar and Smashmouth.
The Saturday night concert experience at Pershing Square offers not only music and California sunsets, but a variety of food trucks and fully-stocked bars. The concert series began in 2009 with a relatively humble set-up put together by a student production crew. Over the following decades, it has hosted acts like The Wallflowers and the B-52s and grown increasingly bigger.
In addition to the marquee Saturday night concerts, Pershing Square offers a Wednesday farmers’ market accompanied by lunchtime concerts, an outdoor movie screening on Fridays, and special events throughout the year. It is a prime example of the kind of community-based summer events enjoyed by Angelinos, as well as people from surrounding areas like Anaheim and Placentia. These events often advertise using poster printing and flyer printing, so music fans may want to keep an eye on the walls and lampposts of LA.
