What's Happening in Placentia, CA…

Annual festival returning to Placentia

The annual Tamale Festival and Las Posadas returns to Placentia in December. The festival features entertainment for the entire family and is referred to as a homecoming by past attendees, who use the event to reunite for a weekend with family members.

Featuring restaurants and crafters who line the streets with tents and tables, the event draws hundreds of visitors every year. Vendors likely start preparing for the event months ahead of time working with local print companies for materials they will need to supply festival attendees, including brochures, posters and flyers.

Restaurants provide the visitors with tamales made with pork, beef, and cheese, along with other Mexican favorite foods. Paid for by sponsors, the event was started by a few downtown businesses who wanted to share their cuisine and bring the downtown area to life.

The event will also feature musical entertainment and a variety of craft and art vendors. In line with the upcoming holiday, families will be able to enjoy the sounds of the season with carolers, and children can receive a free gift and pose for pictures with Santa.

The event will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Old Town Placentia. The area utilized for the event will be around the 100 and 200 block of Santa Fe Ave. Attendees will be able to park at Sam’s Club and utilize a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes, which will take them to and from the event.
