Petaluma locals will soon be participating in late summer walking tours that shed light on the unique history of the downtown district.
While these guided tours will be taking place until November, the majority of attendees normally make reservations during the summer season.
This year's gathering has been dubbed "The Petalumans of Yesteryear," and guides dressed in period-accurate attire will provide hands-on tours of downtown Petaluma. Visitors can learn more about the role of this town during the Gold Rush, as well as its later designation as the "Chicken and Egg Capital of the World.” From local Print shops and handheld Flyers to online promotions, events like this are normally promoted in a variety of ways.
While this event is free to attend, the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum welcomes donations of $10 or more. These will help to further preserve the culture of the town, and ensure that similar opportunities will be available in the coming years.
The Petalumans of Yesteryear walking tour is taking place on Saturdays throughout August, starting this weekend. It commences at 10:30 AM, and concludes at 12:00 PM. Visitors should meet on the steps of the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum.
While free to attend, tickets will need to be obtained online in advance. More details are available by calling 1 (707) 778-4398, or visiting the website of the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum.
