Napa venue plans pasta preparation class

Freshly made pasta can be a real taste treat, and a Napa cookery class will soon be pointing the way to preparing it in the home kitchen.

The Culinary Institute of America will be running a non-credit Fresh Pasta at Home course this February, and it will teach how to craft three types of pasta from scratch. The learning will be hands on, and the registration fee is $250.

Participants will learn how to prepare the dough using the ingredients provided and the goal is for the activity to be as fun as it is informative. Techniques for making gnocchi, garganelli, and stuffed ravioli are all on the menu. Attendees will be taught how to blend the ingredients and then roll and cut them into the desired shape. Everyone will walk away with both new skills and a set of recipes to try at home.

Attending a cooking or baking class can make it easy to pick up some new culinary skills in a fun and supportive environment. Printed recipe cards and other handouts for workshops will be available at local stationery printers.

The Culinary Institute of America will be helping local home chefs prepare perfect pasta on Saturday, February 22. The venue can be found at 500 1st Street, and the start time for the workshop will be 9:00 am.
