The 10th annual Whalefest is set to return to Old Fisherman’s Wharf this year in support of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
With a focus on whales and other marine life, this free, information-packed event will be open to adults and children of all ages.
This educational Monterey event will feature a symposium that includes lectures from a number of well-known whale experts and interactive exhibits by a large number of organizations such as the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Sustainability Office of the City of Monterey, Greenfield Community Science Workshop and Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. Banner printing is often used by organizers of such events to create eye catching decorations.
If the weather remains clear on both days of the event, a variety of boats that provide fishing trips, sailing, tours to spot whales, and other activities will be available to all those who attend. Some of these rides may be offered at a discounted rate.
Restaurants on the wharf will serve food and shops will offer whale-themed merchandise for purchase.
Visitors from outside Monterey can call to get rooms at discounted rates from hotels such as the Comfort Inn Monterey Bay and the Portola Inn and Spa.
This event is set to take place on Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on both days.
