Special Kids Connect will be hosting the Respite Caregiver Readiness Workshop in Monterey this spring.
Since 2007, Special Kids Connect has been helping the families of special needs individuals to access helpful resources and get through some of the challenges that may arise.
The respite caregiver workshop will feature a combination of strategies and tools for working with people who have intellectual disabilities, along with first aid and CPR training to equip caregivers with the skills needed for dealing with medical emergencies.
Topics the Monterey Respite Caregiver Readiness Workshop will explore include information on how to care for special needs individuals at their homes, first aid and CPR training, and details on agencies that provide employment to new respite caregivers. The hosts of similar workshops often drop by Print shops in their communities to create essential class materials for attendees to refer to throughout events.
Tickets to the workshop are priced at $35 per person. Admission fees cover the costs of CPR and first aid certification provided by the American Heart Association, as well as breakfast and lunch on breaks.
To follow local health standards, all students of the workshop must practice social distancing and wear facemasks throughout the duration of the event.
The Respite Caregiver Readiness certification training event is set to take place at the Northminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 24 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
