An initiative that encourages local families to get excited about the STEM subjects will be wrapping up May with a special activity, and it will have a focus on the flora that calls California home.
The Monterey area Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History offers a variety of programming, and it has plans in the works for a native plant party. It may be of special interest to home gardeners and anyone else who is interested in the environment, and it will run for five hours.
The Plant Party will explore how choosing to utilize native species offers a variety of benefits, and attendees will learn how important these plants are when it comes to food and shelter for wildlife. They will discover which types perform best in Monterey area home gardens, and tips will be shared for sourcing them in the local nursery trade, rather than succumbing to the temptation to take them from the wild.
An educational activity often includes distributing learning materials to the attendees. These can be obtained by contacting a local brochure printing company, which will also be happy to supply promotional Pens and other items.
The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History has scheduled this community event for May 27. Everyone who registers for the function will need to be on site by 10:00 am.
