The Language Capital of the World festival returns to Monterey for the fifth year running next month, featuring food, exhibits, and mini-language lessons. The event will celebrate Monterey’s cultural and linguistic diversity.
This free festival will bring attention to the many different cultures and languages, offering attendees a chance to learn about them. There will be crafts and lessons, as well as food. Performers will be showing off unique cultural dances and the like. The mini-lessons will be free as well, although not every language represented will have one available. Past events have been well-attended.
Paid parking is available in multiple lots in the area, including the City of Monterey East Garage, Waterfront, and West Garage. More parking may be available in other locations, but attendees should check, as there are multiple lots within walking distance of the venue.
This festival is free and open to the public, and will be held at 20 Custom House Plaza, near the waterfront. Events like this often use flyer printing in order to have pieces sent out to the community, or available to hand out. The festival will open at 10:00 am and run until 5:00 pm. There is not currently a schedule available, but there will likely be demonstrations and such held throughout the day. Food will also likely be available all day. This event will be held on Saturday, October 6.
