For the 86th year, Festa Italia Fisherman’s Festival will be held in Monterey, honoring not only the Italian heritage in Monterey but also past and present fisherman of the city.
This festival will feature live entertainment, primarily of the musical variety. Much of the music will be covers, ranging from modern songs back to the fifties.
One big draw of this event is the food. This year’s squid was caught and processed in Monterey, and will be served throughout the event. Other past favorites will be served as well, including arancini, pasta with fresh-made sauce, sandwiches, and pizza. Desserts, wine, and beer will also be available.
The festival also hosts a bocce tournament, with a maximum of 32 teams playing for first place. Tournament specific rules are sent out to confirmed teams, and cheering for a favorite is always encouraged.
The festival is held at Custom House Plaza, with multiple parking lots in walking distance. The plaza is near Wharf 1, and is almost waterfront.
This type of festival often uses banner printing, and will hang the banner somewhere public weeks before the event to help remind attendees. The festival is free to the public, and will be open on Friday from 3 to 10 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, September 6 through 8.
