Mother Nature keeps her medicine cabinet well stocked, and a Monterey area walk will explore the past, present, and future of medical plants.
A local herbalist will be sharing their knowledge with the participants in the walk, which will depart from 565 Broadway Avenue in Seaside. It will go along at a leisurely pace with lots of stops along the way, and both food and medicine species will be introduced to the group.
Participants will learn about both native and introduced plants and their uses, and this will be explored from a historical perspective. A discussion of how flora communicate through chemical messengers and in other ways is on the agenda, As the meet-up point will be located in a cafe, everyone can purchase a cup of coffee to enjoy during the excursion. The activity will take place rain or shine, and the route followed will be approximately one mile long. Comfortable footwear is recommended for the session.
Sustainability has become a hot topic lately, and Stationery printers can be called on to help. They can supply simple field guides for an activity, and these may be designed so they included full color photos.
This opportunity to discover how to make the most of Nature's bounty is set for May 21. It will depart from its meet-up point at 1:30 pm.
