Monterey area to welcome return of monarchs

Each year, monarchs make their return to their Monterey area wintering grounds, and a special event will welcome their arrival.

Downtown Pacific Grove will be rolling out the red carpet for these long-distance Flyers, and the three days of festivities will be both fun and educational. The events will each have a butterfly theme, and there are activities for almost every interest and age.

The plans for the celebration include hands-on learning. A special presentation that offers information about the life cycle and migration of monarchs, as well as their cultural significance, will be screened.

The function will open with a welcome home for both the butterflies and event alumni, and the downtown area of Pacific Grove will be transformed into a street party. The next day will see kids walk in the Butterfly Parade, and there will also be a treasure hunt and other events. That night, the adults in the crowd can head to Point Pinos lighthouse for an evening of sips, snacks, and entertainment. The festivities will conclude on Sunday, and one of the sessions planned for that day will include a presentation by author David Laws.

The seasonal theme of a fall festival can be incorporated into the Promotional Products and other materials prepared for an occasion by a poster printing company.

Pacific Grove will be welcoming the return of the monarchs from September 30 until October 2.
